Prophet Muhammad - The stories, teachings and sunnah

Backstory of Muhammad

Before getting into the stories and teachings, it’s important to learn the backstory of Muhammad and how he came to be a prophet.

Muhammad was born in the year 570 in the city of mecca. At this time, there were different tribes and settlements that worshipped many gods/goddesses as protectors of individual tribes, usually associated with sacred trees, rocks and springs. Mecca was caught between two large empires; the Byzantine empire and Sassanid empire. At a young age, Muhammad had a very traumatic childhood. 6 months before he was born, his father sadly passed away, and 6 years later his mother also sadly passsed away leaving him to be taken in by his grandfather. And, unfortunately, his grandfather passed 2 years afterward. Leaving Muhammad to have no options on where to live and still being young, he was given to his uncle Abu Talib, who accepted him in with care. Although, Abu would only provide him with necessities to surviving, such as food and shelter, as he was a minor family member it was culturally unacceptable to do anymore then that during that time period. Abu did great Muhammad well though, he had once taken him on a caravan trade mission to Syria and eventually became a merchant trading  between the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. By age 20, Muhammad had a positive reputation of honesty and trust by his peers, so much so that he was asked to mediate. When the sacred shrine of Mecca (the kaaba) was damaged in the frequent flash floods, he was asked to mediate a dispute between the clan leaders.

Sunnah of prophet Muhammad

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) set a beautiful example through his actions and teachings. Some of the sunnahs (practices) of Prophet Muhammad include offering the five daily prayers, showing kindness and respect to others, giving charity to those in need, fasting during the month of Ramadan, and performing Hajj (pilgrimage) to the holy city of Mecca.  performing the Tahajjud prayer, reciting the Quran regularly, using a siwak (toothstick) for oral hygiene, eating with the right hand, giving salaam (greetings) when entering and leaving a place, and maintaining good personal hygiene. These sunnahs not only hold spiritual significance but also promote a balanced and healthy lifestyle. By following these sunnahs, we can strive to embody the qualities of love, compassion, and devotion that the Prophet exemplified.

A story of prophet Muhammad pbuh

What’s a better way to end the blog off other then a beautiful story of our prophet? One beautiful story about Prophet Muhammad and his wife, Khadijah, is the story of their marriage. Khadijah was a successful businesswoman and a widow, while Muhammad was known for his honesty and integrity. Khadijah was impressed by Muhammad's character and asked him to manage her business affairs. As they worked closely together, their relationship grew stronger, and they eventually got married. Their marriage was filled with love, support, and companionship. Khadijah stood by Muhammad's side during the difficult times, offering him comfort and encouragement. She was the first person to believe in his prophethood and provided unwavering support throughout his mission. Their relationship serves as a beautiful example of love, trust, and partnership. It's truly heartwarming to see the bond they shared as husband and wife.
